Coach Dave was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. He has loved the sport of baseball for as long as he can remember - first as a player, and now as a coach. Dave traveled to Chicago to train under Charley Lau Jr., the son of Charley Lau, who was hitting Coach for the Kansas city Royals. Lau is credited with training George Brett to become one of the greatest batters of all time. Dave has spent hours studying and perfecting the Charley Lau theory of hitting. In addition to this training, Dave is also a student of Dr. Bill Harrison’s “slow down the game” techniques which were developed within the Kansas City Royals organization. The mechanics that Charley Lau taught combined with the visual & mental techniques from Dr. Harrison together create one of the most consistent and successful swings in baseball.
Dave been providing hitting instruction for several years and have had the privilege to train kids from not only the Kansas City area, but all across the country. Now he is bringing his instruction, Lau Hitting KC, to The Competitive Edge!
Dave is currently a Captain on the Kansas City, Missouri fire department with 28 years of service.
